My story

As a “post-40 creative” who only recently discovered a passion for ceramic arts, my dive into pottery has allowed me to realign this new season of life with an artistic focus as I explore the art of pottery and build a creative-focused business.

The beginning of my journey as a ceramic artist coincided with relocating to California from rainy Washington State in 2018. So naturally, my first muse has been the desert-meets-mountains landscape of my new home.

Painted Lady Pottery pieces are sometimes functional, always nature-inspired and “perfectly imperfect” as I celebrate the beauty of my new home in Southern California with fresh eyes.

I opened my Etsy shop in 2019 and in 2020 opened PaintedLadyPottery.com (an additional Shopify store which I subsequently sold). In 2021, I started coaching other handmade sellers how to find success selling online.

My favorite part of creating pottery is being able to imagine something beautiful, then bring it into existence. Connecting with others who enjoy my pieces and buy them as gifts for others brings such joy to my spirit that I never anticipated when I first picked up that lump of clay.
